The Airlife Airx Incentive Spirometer is disposable and designed for exercising and measurement of volume flow. Pre- and postoperative patients increase lung volume by keeping the instrument's inhalation-sensitive ball suspended with inhalation. Flow passages vary in diameter, affecting the energy required to raise the ball, which stays suspended as long as the patient maintains this effort. Flow indicator dial can be adjusted to indicate flow rates in ml/second.
